How it all started...

In 2005 Sky Performing Arts combined two long-standing local theatre groups: Off The Wall and Take A Bough. Off the Wall was the longest running Monroe-based community theatre group, going back to the 1970s. This merge made sense because our groups were sharing people, spaces, resources and materials so we decided it was best for both to become one. Early Sky Performing Arts productions were in the building that housed the co-op school in the Tye Industrial Park.

Shows produced during this period included Wind in the Willows, Spoon River Anthology, Miracle Worker & The Glass Menagerie (pictured below).

Fast-forward to today, we are now producing two major shows each year under the Sky Performing Arts "mainstage" committee. Two summer camps for aspiring young performers. A weekly improv group meet-up, and multiple ad-hoc community-focused fund-raiser shows under our After Dark banner. Our growth is due to the passion and dedication of our volunteers, and the increasing interest from the community which helps support additional projects to bring live productions to Monroe.

If you'd like to get involved, we want you! Just email us or follow us on socials to join the fun.
